Ambiente 2018 opens today!

Ambiente, the world's number one trade show associated with dining, cooking and household products, opens today and runs until 13 February

As the leading international trade show and the world’s number one in products associated with dining, cooking, household goods, gift items and interior decoration, Ambiente delivers some 4,460 exhibitors and 141,000 visitors from 154 countries.

And, for five days, from today, February 9 through February 13, and across 308,000 sqm of floor space at Frankfurt am Main, Ambiente 2018 will offer newcomers and returning exhibitors across all sectors, including Dining which is the biggest Dining area you will find anywhere.

16 halls of Dining
Across 16 halls, Dining represents the entire market for table, kitchen and housewares – some 2,200 exhibitors covering the premium segment up to volume business.

In Table Prestige (Hall 4.1), visitors will find the finest porcelain and ceramics from companies like Rosenthal, lenox and Moser, while in Table Contemporary (Hall 4.1), design-led suppliers such as Eva Solo, Stelton, Alessi and LSA International will deliver their wares.

Table Daily Life (Halls 4.2 and 6.2) features companies like Arc, Libbey, Pasabahce and Bonna and Table Top Trade (Halls 6.2 and 6.3) offers glass, porcelain and ceramic-ware for bulk buyers, from suppliers including Wrzesniak and Gibson Overseas.

Returning exhibitors for 2018 include Orrefors Kosta Boda, while new names in Dining for 2018 include Erik Bagger, a Scandinavian tableware design company; Establissemenets Coquet, which includes Limoges porcelain manufacturers JL Coquet and Jaune de Chrome; and Oneida/Anchor Hocking.

New experiences
Also new at Ambiente 2018 is a focused display for retailers, From Point of Sales to Point of Experience, which answers the question, ‘How can products be presented in the digital age?’. The presentation (in the foyer of Hall 4.1) will deliver an entire shop, where retailers themselves become consumers. A Wishing Table allows customers to place tabletop on a table with detailed product information presented as soon as they place the product there.

A further new programme for 2018 is the Business Matchmaking Programme, which facilitiates contact between manufacturers and buyers at an earlier stage, and allows them to plan meetings. “Producers and buyers enter the specifics of what they are looking for, and the programme matches their interests and schedules a meeting for the two parties, connecting them in person at Ambiente,” says Thomas.

Other presentations
As always, Ambiente 2018 will feature a range of special interest domains, including Solutions, Ethical Style and Contract Business, to help retailers efficiently plan and select the right companies and products for them.

The Solutions display (foyer of Hall 4.0), now in its sixth edition, and curated by designer Sebastian Bergne, and helped by Tableware International editor Kate Birch, will showcase products that are intended to make everyday life easier, but which also feature designs that are unique and new.

The Ethical Style Guide, now in its third season, is a jury-selected lineup of sustainable companies, who will feature in a directory comprising seven categories, with each participant listed with their hall and stand number, and their stand featuring an Ethical Style sign.

Finally, with HoReCa “the primary growth sector at Ambiente”, according to Thomas Kastl – over 290 exhibitors made Ambiente 2017 the hotspot for hotels, restaurants, cafes and contract business - the Contract Business Guide will once again be published, outlining the suppliers offering HoReCa and their exact positions at the show. Again, all participating stands will feature a HoReCa sign, making it clear to buyers.

Ambiente 2018 will deliver a calendar of events, including in the Ambiente Academy, where a series of lectures from well-known industry experts will explore how the consumer goods industry will develop.

Going Dutch
Finally, with Partner Country for Ambiente 2018 named as The Netherlands, the presentation Do Dutch, designed by industrial designer Robert Bronwasser, will feature goods from the Netherlands in a display that is minimalistic yet colourful, based on geometric patterns of lines and bright colours, paying tribute to the famous Dutch art movement De Stijl, founded 100 years ago.
