New Gift and Homewares Brand Launches

New Gift and Homewares Brand Launches Online and In Store At The Corn Exchange Leeds

A brand new concept in homewares and gift giving with an emphasis on British creativity launches this month as Leeds-based. unveils its new website and opens the doors to its first ever store in the newly refurbished Corn Exchange in the centre of Leeds.

A treasure trove of unique gifts and homewares, each covetable item has been carefully sourced and in most cases, made by home grown artists, designers and craftsmen. Both the website and the Corn Exchange store are bustling hubs of UK design and emerging talent. Each showcases the work of a cornucopia of artists, producers and students, many of whom are local to Leeds. To further nurture this talent, will work in close partnership with the European-funded NET315 scheme based at Leeds City College.

The JuJu Shop co-founder Ian Myers said, “We’re passionate about finding unusual presents and unique items for the home and garden. It’s been inspiring working with Leeds City College and discovering the legions of creative design talent bubbling around the UK as well as further afield. The fabulous thing about the JuJu Shop is that we can give a platform to this creativity and at the same time, help our shoppers fill their homes and lives with beautiful handmade items that are chic, stylish and unavailable elsewhere. Our aim is to grow in the future by working collaboratively with our suppliers. We want to bring shoppers great quality, beautiful products. At the same time, we’re committed to ensuring the producers receive a fair deal for their considerable talent and effort by operating a profit sharing scheme with them.”

As a platform for talented local students and design enthusiasts, the JuJu Shop is committed to breaking down the barriers preventing new designers from showcasing their works. By nurturing this talent and providing space in store and online, the brand is rapidly becoming the go-to domain for anyone looking for items with authentic individuality.
The JuJu Shop philosophy was inspired by the creativity shown by friends and family of co-founders Ian Myers and Shara Meek. They tapped into this hub, discovering exceptional products such as handmade cushions, candle holders, wall art and ceramics that were deserving of a wider audience.  The JuJu Shop brand was borne out of this process.

Now open at The Corn Exchange, in store shoppers can expect to find an Aladdin’s cave of limited edition prints and one-of-a-kind objects as well a huge variety of original art, Fairtrade products, handmade items and eco-friendly creations at a range of prices and offering real value for money.
Ian Myers added, “We hope that the convenient location of the Corn Exchange will encourage more people to consider decorating their home or gifting their friends with handmade items which celebrate Great British traditions and support a new generation of designers, ceramicists and artists. The UK really is a hot bed of talent and we can’t wait to lift the lid on it! What sets the JuJu Shop apart from other retail outlets is our dedication to championing promising young designers as evidenced by our partnership with the NET315 project and Leeds City College. I also want to help drive footfall into the Corn Exchange as I’ve grown up knowing this amazing building and want to help the people of Leeds and further afield re-discover this incredible place.”

The JuJu Shop will introduce an interactive element to the Corn Exchange, with live performances, workshops, music, readings and special events designed to harness the area’s artistic and imaginative flair and showcase it to the public on a regular basis. All can be enjoyed in the Corn Exchange’s beautiful surrounds.

Creating a network of like-minded people is vital in sustaining local businesses and supporting those with a gift for design. With this in mind, the JuJu Shop project will offer a multitude of opportunities for those wishing to sell their products through the platform or participate in store events.
