John Crane steps aside

John CraneIt truly is the end of an era at John Crane Ltd, where staff and customers bid a fond farewell to its eponymous boss - John Crane.

When the company was sold in 2008, the two original founders John Crane and Anthony King both had their exit strategies planned. Whilst Anthony King retired at that time, John Crane stayed on board to ease the company through the transition period, with a view to gradually leaving the business in 2010.

With over a quarter of a century in the business, and the company in its next phase of growth, John Crane has decided to bid au revoir - although it's not quite a final goodbye from John as he will remain in close contact with the company and still offer his expertise.

David Piper, company owner commented, "We wish John every health and happiness in his retirement; he deserves it after running a successful business for so long. The achievements of John Crane Ltd today are a testament to the way John and Anthony guided the company for so many years previously."

John Crane added "It has been a great journey and I would like to thank those of you I personally have not been able to speak to before my exit from the business.

“Over the last 25 years we have made many friends and partnered customers who have supported us, making John Crane Ltd what it is today. I am sure that in the years to come the company will continue to be synonymous with award winning, quality wooden toys."
