A.T. Cross Sports Book Awards bring legends together

Luxury pen manufacturer signs up for a further two years

A. T. Cross is to be the title sponsor of the Sports Book Awards for the next two years.

The company, renowned for its manufacture of fine writing implements, has pledged its support for the awards scheme up until 2017, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the prestigious literary event.

To celebrate this week the A.T. Cross team shared an afternoon at Lord’s Cricket Ground with a number of judges and authors all of who will be taking part in this year’s awards. Pictured are: Lawrence Dallaglio, Nigel Mansell, Martin Johnson and Steve Davis.

The judging day included round table discussions being held for category judges so they could share views and thoughts on which books and authors should win the coveted awards.

The awards, first conceived in 2002, exist to highlight the most outstanding sports books of the previous calendar year, with 12 categories set-up to showcase the most enlightening and informative publications from sporting writers, professionals and retailers.

Cross Sports Book Awards Founder David Willis said the company’s decision to extend its partnership represented a significant boost for everyone involved and would signal the beginning of a number of other high profile announcements, to be revealed shortly.

He said: ‘A.T. Cross is a premium brand that offers a fitting sense of prestige to our celebrations of the written word.

'The name goes hand in hand with the sports book awards and the company’s support really is invaluable in a number of ways.’

Nicola Shepherd, Marketing Director at A.T. Cross, added: ‘Cross are delighted to renew our association with the BSBA for 2016 enabling us to showcase writers bringing to life their experiences by putting pen to paper.’
