Sir Philip Green invites bids for loss-making iconic chain

Iconic chain BHS could have new owners soon after owner Sir Philip Green received a a number of takeover bids.

The Sunday Times reports that Green has decided to sell off the store, which has been part of his Arcadia group for 15 years. He bought the company for £200m in 2000 from the Storehouse group. Other companies owned by the Monaco-residing businessman include Dorothy Perkins, Topshop, Miss Selfridge and Wallis.

The department store made a pre-tax loss of £69.6m in 2013 as sales dipped 3.5 per cent to £675.7m, according to figures from Companies House.
