BBC presenter stars at buzzy awards where Widdop do the double

A chat about bee-keeping is a different way to spent an awards ceremony, but that’s exactly what happened at yesterday’s Greats where host Bill Turnbull talked about his hobby.

The avid apiarist and former BBC Breakfast presenter, pictured, was the star of the buzzy event at the Grosvenor House Ballroom in London yesterday afternoon (Thursday 5 May) where he handed the Honorary Achievement Award, sponsored by the Giftware Association, to Widdop And Co director Andrew Illingworth.

The company did the double by also picking up the gold award for Best Service To The Independent Retailer, while Marina McManus was named Retail Employee Of The Year for her work as shop manager at Liquorice Tree based in Edinburgh.

More than 400 gift retailers, suppliers, manufacturers, reps and agents attended the Greats ceremony to recognise and celebrate the top independent and multiple gift retailers both regionally and nationally, as well as niche retailers, garden centres and outstanding retail employees.
