Daniel is new Danilo MD

Founder Laurence Prince keeps business in the family with son appointed to new role

Laurence Prince, owner and chairman of Danilo Promotions, is delighted to announce the appointment of his son Daniel to the position of managing director from January 1, 2018.

Daniel joined Danilo in 2001 and has certainly served his apprenticeship in the licensed calendar and greeting world – he launched their first sound card ranges and where you can customise your own card, then a new addition to the family business.

Giftwraps and greetings cards have gone from strength to strength for Danilo, with more than 11million cards and over five million giftwrap products being sold annually.

Daniel said: “At Danilo we can react quickly to trends, we have a well-established retail distribution, a newly-expanded in-house design team of 10 led by creative director Martin Carter, and we are aiming to be the go to company for licensed greetings cards, calendars and giftwrap in the future

“We’re looking forward to 2018 – when we celebrate our 40th trading year – by adding new licenses to Danilo from Roald Dahl, World Of Walliams, Jurassic World, Gruffalo, L.O.L and Peter Rabbit, which we’re all incredibly excited about.

Danilo have strategically expanded over the past four decades and now have a permanent staff of over 30, plus seasonal worker in the busy times, with many joining the team and being promoted internally.

There are further plans to increase the work force to drive European sales and more expansion plans, plus they are already working on increased product ranges including more diaries with mid-year options for 2019.

As chairman and chief executive, Laurence is not handing over the reins and will still be very much involved with the business but, with the recent appointments of licensing director Dan Grant and sales director Brett Smith, the market-leading company are well set up for more solid growth in all areas.

The only downside to Daniel’s appointment at Danilo is that he’s a Spurs supporter and while it’s Arsenal all the way for Laurence – which makes for some interesting and sometimes tense discussions in the boardroom!
