Discover more about the Victoria and Albert Museum and its award-winning licensing programme at stand N70 at Brand Licensing Europe 2018

The V&A continues to build on its strong presence in the licensing industry by exhibiting at Brand Licensing Europe 2018. This year has seen the V&A launching more licensed collections than ever before, driving innovative product ideas in the market place and building brand awareness across the world with high profile collaborations.

Long-standing licensee Creative Tops has brought two very diverse table top ranges to market, the Cole Collection and the whimsical Edward Lear Nonsense Alphabet (pictured). Additionally, papercraft licensee Trimcraft have created a range of exquisite papercraft products showcasing the rich variety of the V&A’s textile collection in a soft colour palette of pinks, greens and creams to create a unique collection with matching embellishments.

Most recently, the V&A has aligned with British-based sofa maker Sofa Workshop on a line of furniture and exclusive fabric designs. The range debuted at Decorex International 2018, where the V&A spotlighted it in a cohesive display that also incorporated its other key home lines, including hand knotted floor coverings from UK Heritage Rugs, furnishing fabrics from Arley House, wall decoration from Surface View, and wall and floor tiles from British Ceramic Tile.

September also saw the launch of the much-anticipated range of lingerie and nightwear with Coco de Mer, featuring delicate motifs, intricate detailing and iridescent surfaces on glamorous silhouettes. Royal florist Philippa Craddock has once again worked with the V&A to transform floral designs into faux stems, drawing from the museum’s archive of original botanical paintings and drawings.

Demonstrating the programme’s breadth of product categories, the V&A has made its first foray into food and beverage gifting with a line of luxury confectionery and beverages beautifully packaged in Arts and Crafts patterns created by Fells exclusively for John Lewis.

Looking internationally, the V&A team are committed to growing the business further in East Asia, as signalled with the appointment of Alfilo Brands as the V&A’s exclusive agent in China. The team have ambitious plans for licensing, retail collaborations and pop-up stores throughout the territory due to come to fruition later this year. Among the first to be announced are a range with lifestyle retail platform the Beast and design- driven stationery brand Kaco, which launched on social media platform WeChat at the end of September.

This year saw the V&A presented with Best Licensed Heritage Or Institution Brand at the Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards 2018,
in addition to awards for the V&A inspired John Lewis designed collaboration and the range with lifestyle accessories brand Knomo. The V&A will be looking to continue its reputation as a leader in the licensing field with a busy and exciting schedule over the coming months.
