Launch of The World of Dinosaur Roar!

Nurture Rights announces publishing programme and major licensing campaign under way for new property

Kids’ media company Nurture Rights has announced the launch of The World of Dinosaur Roar!, a new preschool property created by Peter Curtis, produced in association with the Natural History Museum in London. The World of Dinosaur Roar! launches with a collectable series of books, published by Macmillan’s Children’s Books, the official publishing partner for the property.

Inspired by the best-selling, classic picture book from the 1990s, Dinosaur Roar!, by Paul Stickland and Henrietta Stickland, The World of Dinosaur Roar! is a new concept that teaches pre-schoolers about dinosaurs. The series introduces readers to a different title character in each book and uses his or her personality to teach children about dinosaurs in an engaging and entertaining way. Every book in the series also includes simple dinosaur facts and a pronunciation guide.

The World of Dinosaur Roar! book series begins with two titles: Dinosaur Roar! The Tyrannosaurus rex and Dinosaur Boo! The Deinonychus, the first in a collectable series of 26 books. The book launch will be followed by a wide-ranging licensing campaign managed by Nurture Rights.

The next two books in the series — Dinosaur Stomp! The Triceratops and Dinosaur Munch! The Diplodocus — will appear in July. Many more colourful dinosaurs, including Dinosaur Snap! The Spinosaurus, Dinosaur Flap! The Oviraptor, and Dinosaur Whack! The Stegosaurus, will also star in their own books — and all 26 dinosaur characters frequently reappear in other characters' books in the collection, which together make up The World of Dinosaur Roar! All the books are written in a delightful and engaging style, using witty rhyming text by award-winning author Jeanne Willis that perfectly complements the amazing illustrations.

The unique naming formula for the dinosaur characters created by Peter Curtis is inspired by the title of the classic picture book, Dinosaur Roar! Working with the Natural History Museum, each name was developed taking a particular character trait of the real dinosaur species and using active verbs to portray the character’s unique personality, which adds to the authenticity of the brand.

The property has been produced in association with the Natural History Museum in London, and all dinosaurs in the series have been verified and approved by Dr Paul Barrett of the Museum’s Department of Earth Sciences. All books and licensed merchandise will carry the Natural History Museum logo. It is this seal of authenticity that sets The World of Dinosaur Roar! apart.

The classic Dinosaur Roar! brand, also owned by Nurture, has performed well as a licensed property since it first appeared at retail, with apparel ranges launching in Mothercare and M&Co and a raft of licensees coming on board, including Paul Lamond Games, Carousel Calendars, Fashion UK and VMC. The World of Dinosaur Roar!, with its large cast of memorable characters and engrossing storylines, is already attracting licensee interest as a property with potential across a wide range of categories and merchandise aimed, like the books, at a core market of children aged 2-5, as well as gift givers and dinosaur fans everywhere.
