Roald Dahl’s LEGO Heroes

The iconic author's Literary Estate unveiled a unique collaboration with toy giant LEGO in celebration of Roald Dahl Day on Wednesday

Thanks to this unique collaboration with LEGO, this September Roald Dahl’s young heroes will be springing from the pages of the stories and travelling to locations around the UK - step forward Charlie, George, Matilda, James and Sophie. Child-sized LEGO builds of six of Roald Dahl iconic heroes will appear at various locations across the UK.

Willy Wonka’s successor, Charlie will be at Manchester Central Library; Anarchic inventor, George will be sited at Nottingham Station; the endearing rule-breaker, Matilda will be at home in The Cambridge Theatre; adventurous James will be holding the fort at Cardiff Castle and brave Sophie from The BFG will be at The Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland.

This month has also witnessed the introduction of a new Roald Dahl hero; Billy. Billy is the intrepid hero of Roald Dahl’s very last book Billy and the Minpins. Originally published as The Minpins the story has now been published as a beautiful hardback chapter-book, under the title Billy and the Minpins with, for the first time, black-and-white line illustrations by Quentin Blake.

The sixth and final iconic LEGO build hero is Billy. This new and exciting character will spend the next 8 weeks at The Eden Project in Cornwall.

Stephanie Griggs, Licensing & Design Director, the Roald Dahl Literary Estate said: “we are absolutely thrilled to have such an exciting partnership and we can’t wait for our fans to be able to visit and see these wonderful heroes brought to life in LEGO.”
