Sweet Smell of Success

After 21 years of running a hugely successful British family brand, Ashleigh & Burwood’s Directors can now formally announce the exciting plans laid out to take the business into the next generation

Since Ashleigh & Burwood was founded by father and son team, John and Andrew Nettleton 21 years ago, the company has enjoyed continued success year on year through an ever-changing economic climate.  Purely self-funded, with profits being re-invested to fund development and growth, this much loved British brand has been responsible for pioneering many key innovations in the home fragrance industry.  Cashing in on the past 21 years of learning and success, the future is now set to be just as bright as the Ashleigh & Burwood brand heads towards pole position, leading the way in the home fragrance design market.

The past few months have seen much business deconstruction, planning and reconstruction taking place behind the scenes, as father John Nettleton steps aside to become Chairman and son Andrew takes up the reins as MD.   One of the fragrance industry’s well known leaders, Clive Harper, ex MD of Yankee Candle Europe, has been brought on board as a consultant to help steer Ashleigh & Burwood into the future.  His acute market knowledge and instinctive business mind have been invaluable to the overall process, bringing a fresh outside perspective into the future planning and nurturing of this precious brand.

These past months of planning have resulted in key values and USP’s being identified, new senior staff being appointed to strengthen the managerial team, product collections being systematically assessed and refined, branding and marketing communications being ramped up and becoming more sophisticated, buying new premises to double the size of the existing Head Office and warehousing, and a huge £2 million investment being allocated to fund the global growth strategy.

The unique talent and industry expertise within the team at Ashleigh & Burwood represents a true authority in the marketplace and the company intends to exploit this in the global aircare industry, which is now worth an astounding £450 million per year in the UK alone, and that is set to grow even more.   But crucially the core family values that were established right at the outset remain the backbone of this brand.  Ashleigh & Burwood’s incredible forecasted 25% growth next year, on top of what has been a record year this year, will be driven solely through integrity and reinvestment back into the loyal customers and partners that have been a part of the company’s success to date.   This is a celebration of achievement to be shared.
