This year’s ‘Jig It’ competition

With all the doom and gloom about the economy of late here’s a silly piece of news to brighten your day.

This year’s wackiest beach event went with a bang and saw all of the ‘Jig It’ competitors getting very wet indeed! The ‘Jig It’ competition in Bognor Regis sees the challengers try to complete Gibsons ‘I Love Boats’ 1,000 piece puzzle before the tide comes or get very wet into the bargain!

2011 Jig It champions Lyn Halcombe and Claire Fitzwilliam made it a hat trick of successes and managed to slot 747 pieces of Mike Jupp’s designed puzzle whilst up to their waists in water before the waves became too much. Claire told Gifts Today: “It’s a case of blotting everything else out and getting on with the puzzle.” Other activities at the seaside included a hobby horse race and strong man competition. The event was filmed by BBC Coast series, which will be aired early next year.
