Thunderbirds are go! ITV unveils new gift lines

50 years since first broadcast of  Gerry Anderson's iconic Supermarionation show.

ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) today unveils new developments for its Classic Thunderbirds gift category as it celebrates the entertainment icon’s 50th anniversary ahead of this year’s Spring Fair (1-5 February, NEC Birmingham).

This year marks the classic 1960s TV series 50th anniversary. To mark this milestone, ITVS GE is unveiling new additions to the Classic Thunderbirds gifting category that demonstrate the brand’s enduring popularity and timeless appeal.

Licensees exhibiting at Spring Fair 2015 will present a special range of anniversary products and limited editions based on new artwork, which target the adult retro and nostalgic market and will be available at retail outlets across UK and Ireland from this spring.

Bunkerbound will launch a selection of accessories including alarm clocks, travel gift sets, cufflinks, wallets, gadget cases, baggage and car gift sets, whilst Paladone’s extensive and quirky gifting range will feature stationery items, desktop accessories, mugs, dual purpose key rings, magnets, in addition to a build your own series of the iconic vehicles and a genius glasses repair kit.

Danilo will showcase a variety of diaries, calendars, greeting and sound cards, gift wrap, boxes and bags for fans and Demand Media will exhibit its new line of wooden and card jigsaw puzzles.

Plastic Head Distribution will present two ranges based on Classic Thunderbirds and the Gerry Anderson catalogue. Both lines will appeal to the nostalgia indie market and feature items such as t-shirts, hoodies, vests, sweaters, and accessories, including hats, bags, phone cases and home wares. GB Eye will also launch its latest selection of Classic Thunderbirds posters.

Tactic Games will be celebrating the anniversary with a limited edition Classic Thunderbirds Trivia Game. A must-have for all fans, the game will include a timer, 400 question cards with 1,000 questions and answers, in addition to a booster box which contains a further 250 questions.

Trudi Hayward, SVP, Head of Global Merchandising at ITVS GE says: “We are commemorating the incredible 50-year history of this iconic brand through rich new gifting products that will appeal to loyal fans of the brand. Consumer demand and feedback that we are receiving for Thunderbirds is overwhelming and with so much more planned for this milestone anniversary, including the launch of the new Thunderbirds Are Go television series this spring, we are in no doubt that 2015, is in fact, the year of Thunderbirds.”
