Top Drawer call for new talent

Applications to next edition of Spotted are now open

The selection process has begun for the next edition of Spotted at A/W18 Top Drawer – and applications are being invited.

Open to brands from across the world looking to make their UK trade fair debut, Spotted encompasses each of Top Drawer’s sectors - Home, Gift, Fashion, Craft, Greetings & Stationery and Food.

Over the past eight years this programme has helped to launch more than 200 small businesses and is now firmly established as one of the main attractions at the show, which runs at London’s Olympia in both January and September. Pictured are the winner and runners up of S/S 2018 Spotted Award - Stay Sixty, Divine Savages and Cult Vinegar.

All Spotted brands receive a three-year plan discount programme and are also eligible to enter the Spotted Award, a prestigious new prize judged by a panel of industry professionals for the three most original, best designed and most promising brands at the showcase.

The prizes include a free stand at Top Drawer Spring for the winner and a series of mentoring sessions with key designers, retailers, brand consultants and PRs for the three finalists.

Divine Savages said: 'Spotted was fantastic. We took some great orders, made contacts with various interior designers and boutiques from Winchester to Islington and Devon, had press interest from the Evening Standard, Home & Antiques and various bloggers, and met big contacts such as Scribbler and Calypso Cards. And of course, the icing on the cake was Spotted Awards.'

And Apiary Made, who were part of the spring/summer Spotted section, added: 'Spotted was great. A trade show like Top Drawer puts you right in front of retailers so you can pick their brains over everything – the products, display, branding, interest, expectations, the works. The feedback was wonderful, so we are excited at the possibility of getting ourselves established and retailing in the UK.'

Visitors also find the section a great drawer at the show organised by Clarion Events, with the Science Museum buyer commenting: 'Spotted is the perfect place to discover an edited selection of UK talent that is both ready-for-market and taps into key design trends.'
