Widdop Bingham wins SHD Logistics Award for Return on Investment

On Thursday 19 March 2015, the team from Widdop Bingham, were presented with an award for Return on Investment, at the SHD Logistics Awards, hosted by comedian Romesh Ranganathan, at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square.

The event celebrates excellence in the logistics industry, across eleven main categories. Widdop Bingham won for its commitment to its return on investment of the warehouse management system implemented just 12 months ago.

The judge’s comments, read out by Romesh live on stage, said: “This leading wholesaler clearly demonstrated a return on its investment, after it moved from a paper picking system to an automated one, which has delivered improved picking accuracy of 99.8%, labour savings, space utilisation and productivity by 10%.”

Chris Illingworth, Director of IT and Logistics at Widdop Bingham, said: “This was a fantastic evening for our Company. The implementation of the warehouse management system was no quick fix involving many different departments within the company. However we saw results immediately the system was implemented and winning the award tonight is a tremendous achievement”.
The SHD Logistics Awards were declared a successful and important event by its guests, who enjoyed a 5* menu at the elegant venue, before Romesh provided twenty minutes of comedy. Romesh also announced each winner, who joined him on stage to collect their trophy.

Other winners on the night across categories included: Fresh Logistics, DHL and House of Fraser, Munters, Proximity with Scandinavian House, Peel Ports Group, Kuehne & Nagel with SEC Storage, John Lewis, Century Logistics, Great Bear, Kelloggs with Voiteq and Unipart Aftermarket Logistics.

Peter MacLeod, Editor of SHD Logistics, said: “The mood of the evening was celebratory and upbeat, and it was heartening to see the obvious delight and pride shown by the winners. I congratulate Widdop Bingham - a very deserving winner.”
