Winning Moves vows to ‘trump’ its' Monopoly successes of 2014

Cameron and Obama get VIP Monopoly games – who is next powerful figure to feature?

Over the recent festive period Winning Moves scored a double coup after it was reported in the media how both President Obama and David Cameron had received one each of the latest Monopoly 2014 Winning Moves-customised boards for their families.

And later this year Winning Moves UK – makers of Top Trumps as well as official Monopoly regional, football and special versions – says that it is likely to send an equally world famous VIP one of its’ latest official Monopoly boards for 2015: the Pope.

Last year’s new regional Winning Moves editions – one for Newport in South Wales, the other for Milton Keynes, both launched in October – found new homes over the festive period. A Newport, South Wales, version at the White House – and a Milton Keynes-customised board at No. 10.

The Vatican could be the next home for a regional edition, with a new board for a region in Ireland hitting shop shelves later this year in time for Christmas 2015.

Winning Moves sent the White House a Newport version as a "thank you" for President Obama propelling the profile of the South Wales city during a World Summit in September, just before the Newport board was launched. He and his White House entourage stayed at the Mayfair of the new board – Celtic Manor Resort – where the summit was also staged.

And the PM was given a Milton Keynes Monopoly board by the MP for the Buckinghamshire town. The local MP was photographed placing the board underneath the Downing Street Christmas tree.

This year a world famous region in Ireland is being immortalised with its own Monopoly game, with an announcement being made next month.

This particular region was visited by the then Pope in the 1970s, which was described at the time as “the most memorable moment” in that particular region’s history.

“We are keeping the identity of this particular location under our Monopoly hats till next month,” explains Winning Moves’ sales director Robert Osborne, who will be making next month’s Irish announcement.

Osborne adds: “But will we be sending the Vatican a board later this year? Very possibly. Watch this space.”
