World Cup worries eased

Big screen plan for Harrogate footie fans

Anyone worried about missing the World Cup Final while at Harrogate Home & Gift can rest easy – a cinema-style, state-of-the-art projection screen has been arranged to broadcast the game live on the Sunday night.

So everyone can cheer as England captain Steven Gerrard lifts the trophy out in Brazil while having a few snifters from the on-site fully-stocked payable bar in the Harrogate International Centre auditorium.

Ok, we might be a little hopeful about the chances of the only team competing from the Home Nations, but it’ll be a good night for footie fans all the same.

The full social events calendar for Home & Gift, which runs from July 13-16 is currently being finalised and will be revealed shortly.

Meanwhile on the serious front, new brands booked this week to exhibit include Moorland Pottery, Smith & Canova and By Elise with Candlelight making a welcome return after a year out, which makes the show nearly sold out, with just a few final stands for any exhibitors who still want to be part of the action.

The Best Of British and Eco Showcase applications have been coming in and, following an initial selection process, 54 of the 55 of applicants were accepted.

This is an unprecedented result across any of the Clarion retail shows and highlights the quality of applications received. Final selections will be made in the next two weeks and the list will be announced mid-June.

To help retailers get even more from their visit to the show, VIP cards have been landing the doorsteps of some of the most important Home & Gift guests which give them exclusive discounts around Harrogate on bars, restaurants, attractions, and also around the show itself.

A handful have also been kept back to release over the coming weeks through competitions on social media, so be sure to follow @HomeandGift2014 on Twitter, and on Facebook to find out how to enter.
