Black Friday online spend using Visa up 25% to £760m
Store spend down from £1.14bn to £1.13bn.
Visa has reported online spending on Black Friday soared 25%, while store sales was slightly down, reports
Retail Week.
More than £760m was spent online using Visa cards on the day, new figures reveal. However, in-store spend was £1.13bn, down from £1.14bn last year.
Spend online was around 40% of all transactions, up from 35% last year. The figure is a significant leap compared to normal online non-food sales, which in Ocotober made up 19% of retail transactions, according to the BRC.
Visa’s figures offer further evidence of shoppers moving away from from in-store spending during the Sales extravaganza to buying products through ecommerce sites.
